Trump 2020 campaign manager: ‘Time to fire’ Jeff Sessions

President Trump’s 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale called for firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday, while pushing for the end of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

“You can’t obstruct something that was phony against you,” Parscale tweeted. “The IG report gives @realDonaldTrump the truth to end it all.”

In another tweet, Parscale deemed the Mueller investigation a “witch hunt” and “tainted from the start,” echoing what Trump has said about the inquiry.

Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation last year, much the chagrin of Trump and his allies. Trump has said he would have nominated someone else for attorney general if he had known Sessions was going to recuse himself from the investigation.

After the release of the Justice Department inspector general report Thursday, which focused on the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails, Trump declared that is “totally exonerates me.”

The report was critical of the FBI’s handling of the inquiry, focusing in particular on ex-FBI Director James Comey, condemning him for being “insubordinate,” but ultimately concluding bias did not hinder FBI’s investigation.

After serving as digital media director for Trump’s 2016 campaign, Parscale was named as official the president’s re-election campaign manager in February.
