Fire investigators were searching the charred remains of a Baltimore nonprofit and a trucking company on Monday, looking for the cause of a blaze that leveled the structure.

The six-alarm fire ripped through the Violetville warehouse Sunday night, leaving the Casey Cares Foundation, an organization dedicated to aiding critically ill children and their families without a home.

No one was inside the building in the 1400 block of Rome Road when the fire erupted about 8 p.m., foundation spokeswoman Pam Goode said, but the organization?s losses were extensive.

“We have lost everything tangible. However, the heart of the organization is its dedicated staff and volunteers ? and we will rebuild,” Goode said in a statement. “Although catastrophic, this event is nothing compared to what the families that we serve live through each and every day.”

The warehouse also was home to family-owned Wollenweber?s Trucking and Warehousing. Chad Wollenweber, a fifth-generation employee, said the company is searching for new office space but that its Baltimore stations would still be operational today.

Wollenweber said fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze. A spokeswoman for the Baltimore County Fire Department said there were no injuries reported in the blaze, which was under control by 5:48 a.m. Monday.

The Casey Cares Foundation is seeking office space, equipment and monetary donations to rebuild its operation. To contribute, call Executive Director Casey Baynes at 443-506-6306.
