The Washington National Opera announced Tuesday that it has a new music director.
French director Philippe Auguin will take over after a successful trial run. Auguin debuted with the WNO in 2009 with the show “Gotterdammerung,” which gained praise from the musicians and audiences alike.
Auguin’s first show in his new position will be Richard Strauss’ “Salome,” which opens Thursday at the Kennedy Center.
