Twitter users can now “unmention” themselves from a thread so that conversations that initially mention them no longer appear in their mentions. This feature comes among a number of additional updates to the Twitter platform as the company deals with the economic and legal ramifications of Elon Musk’s decision to withdraw from a deal to purchase the company.
“Take control of your mentions and leave a conversation with Unmentioning, now rolling out to everyone on all devices,” Twitter’s safety team said in a tweet.

If users wish to leave a Twitter conversation, they just need to click on a tweet replying to them, open the three-dot menu on the right, and click “Leave conversation.”
Twitter previewed the feature in 2021 and began testing the tool in April among select users.
Twitter has continued to add additional features to its platform. The company had its first “co-tweet” posted on July 7, featuring two authors for a single tweet. It also began testing a “Notes” feature, which will allow users to post long-form content in a single tweet.
