TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A Florida State graduate student has been awarded an $11,000 grant aimed at helping women who have gone back to school seeking a career change.
Stephanie Brown won the award from the American Association of University Women as she attempts to earn a master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
Brown was a teacher for three years after graduating with an early childhood education undergraduate degree from Valdosta State in 2007. She returned to school with the goal of becoming a speech therapist.
The American Association of University Women was founded in 1881 and works to promote equity and education for women and girls.
