DC announces end date for indoor mask mandate

Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, D.C., will eliminate the indoor mask mandate for the city, where viral transmission rates have decreased in recent weeks.

The mayor said she would lift parts of the district’s indoor mask mandate on Monday because the city has reached the “green zone,” meaning there is sufficient healthcare capacity, a minimal spread of the coronavirus, and a high level of community engagement against it. While the overall ranking is green, some individual criteria remain yellow or red.
