BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts revenue officials say tax collections fell short of projections last month and are also running below benchmark for the first quarter of the state’s fiscal year.

Revenue Commission Amy Pitter announced Thursday that while tax collections were $53 million — or 2.2 percent — higher in September than in the same month a year ago, they fell short of the monthly target by $108 million.
