One of the two witnesses testifying in front of the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday morning made big waves on social media for his bow tie.

George Kent, the deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, and William Taylor, the top diplomat in Ukraine, were the first two witnesses to publicly testify in the Democrats’ impeachment investigation.

While many expected their testimony to be the big story, Kent’s decision to wear a bow tie garnered significant attention on social media. People on both sides of the aisle expressed their approval of Kent’s bow tie, with some noting that it matches his pocket square.
