Poll: Trump up 19 points in California

Donald Trump holds a 19-percentage-point lead on Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in a new poll of California voters.

Trump leads with the support of 38 percent of those surveyed, followed by Cruz at 19 percent and Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio at 12 percent. Rubio dropped out of the presidential race on March 15, but the Public Policy Institute of California survey was conducted March 6-15 and ended on the evening of his exit.

On the Democratic side of the aisle, Hillary Clinton held a seven-percentage-point lead on Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, 48-41.

The poll surveyed 1,039 likely voters, including 529 Democrats and 321 Republicans. The poll had a 6.2-percentage-point margin of error for Democrats and 7.3-percentage-point margin of error for Republicans.
