Veterans protesting Tillerson arrested at McCain’s office

Seven protesters were arrested at the Washington office of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Thursday after refusing to leave, according to the U.S. Capitol Police.

The seven — four male and three female — protesters were reportedly part of a larger group of veterans who want McCain to lead the charge to reject Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson as secretary of state.

“I did not sign up to protect oil or the interest of people lining their pockets,” one woman can be heard saying calmly on a video posted to Facebook.

“Exxon is not a friend of the United States,” another veteran says as they stand at attention.

They believe that Tillerson’s corporate background endangers the environment and amounts to war profiteering.
