What should have been another typical partisan squabble took a turn for the weird on Tuesday.
Reps. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., and Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., are locked in a Congressional Hispanic Caucus controversy, reported on by the Washington Examiner’s Laura Barrón-López. Curbelo is trying to join the CHC, but he needs to be approved by its current members. Gallego informed Barrón-López that he would be voting no, partly because of Curbelo’s support for House Speaker Paul Ryan.
Gallego on why he’s voting no: Curbelo hasn’t signed onto Dream Act. “He supports Speaker Ryan who has been huge impediment in terms of what happens on immigration reform.” https://t.co/E2VNzb9Znf

As this update was being posted to Twitter, Curbelo’s Communications Director, Joanna Rodriguez, tweeted at Barrón-López. She claimed that Gallego “rubbed his ear wax on my shoulder after removing his earpiece” from a TV hit.
Considering Rep. Gallego rubbed his ear wax on my shoulder after removing his earpiece from an @MSNBC hit, not surprising he’s not choosing to be classy now. https://t.co/D7IsRUT4j9

Her boss quickly responded by condemning the Arizona representative, but Gallego has yet to sound out on Twitter on the matter.
Even Barrón-López seemed surprised by the way this unfolded.

While the rest of the newsfeed today will most likely be filled with Roy Moore and tax bill updates, at least we can enjoy this oddly entertaining development of what should have been a story of just another Republican-Democrat showdown in Congress.
