A D.C. woman visiting New Jersey for a wedding woke up early Sunday morning to find a car in her hotel room, authorities said.
Police in Toms River, N.J., said Ruth Ernst, 77, was sleeping at a Holiday Inn when a Mercedez Benz barreled into her room and trapped her for 20 minutes.
The driver, 19-year-old Taras Ostrovskiy, also was also staying at the hotel after a high school prom and drove the car from a parking space into the room. The teen was charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
Ernst was recovering Monday from minor injuries.
