State Department officials classified 64 of Hillary Clinton’s private emails Friday evening before publishing a batch of 562 messages online.
The 64 newly classified records were upgraded to “confidential,” the lowest level of classification, a State Department spokesman said.
Officials have now published nearly 47,000 pages of Clinton’s emails under a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit that has forced them to release her records in batches at the end of every month since June.
Under federal court orders, the State Department must complete the publication of the remaining 8,000 pages of Clinton’s emails by Feb. 29.
At least 22 emails have been withheld this year because they contained “top secret” material.
