White House Correspondents’ dinner host Hasan Minhaj on Trump’s golfing trips: ‘Let the man putt-putt. Keep him distracted’

White House Correspondents’ dinner host Hasan Minhaj poked fun at President Trump’s golfing trips since taking office.

“Now a lot of people in the media say that Donald Trump goes golfing too much. … Which raises a very important question: Why do you care?” the “Daily Show” correspondent asked the media in attendance.

“Let the man putt-putt. Keep him distracted. … tell him he has a great body for bobsledding; play him tic-tac-toe. The longer you keep him distracted, the longer we’re not at war with North Korea,” Minjah said.

Minhaj joked that when Trump is not golfing, he’s being president. He suggested that headlines in the media should read “Trump Golfing: Apocalypse Delayed.”

Trump, who was a vocal critic of President Barack Obama playing golf, has made at least 19 trips to a golf course since taking office on Jan 20. The White House has justified the golfing trips by saying he conducts meetings during the visits. Though Trump has been criticized for the time he’s spent on the golf course, he recently said he “couldn’t care less” about golf.
