Campaign finance reports show that Rick Santorum has raised $704,199.37 in the third quarter, up from his previous haul of $582,348 in the last quarter.
But Santorum spent more in the third quarter than he raised, spending $743,757.29. That leaves him with only $189,557 left in the bank.
After a few strong debate performances Santorum is making headway in Iowa with his self-described, “shoestring campaign” but rarely polls above 5 percent.
