Because apparently two “Sharknado” movies weren’t enough, the SyFy Channel has already confirmed a third film in the series. The official location has been kept hush-hush, new reports indicate that Washington D.C. may be the latest city to be devoured by flying sharks.
After the success of the first two classic “Sharknado” films. fans started clamoring for a Washington setting. And why not? There are plenty of sharks in Washington already, so filling the Potomac with more of them shouldn’t be too difficult. And you can just about imagine the movie’s sharks jumping around in the reflecting pool between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.”
This news should make some petitioners very happy. Right after ‘Sharknado 2: The Second One” aired, people started an online petition asking for a film they dubbed “Sharknado 3: Fin-Dependence Day” to be set in Washington D.C.
“D.C. is the city on the Hill, the bastion of freedom, and the home of monuments to our nation’s great leaders such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Bryce Harper, and Ben Ali. D.C. is a city filled with history, majesty, and democracy. Most importantly, D.C. is a city that deserves to be pounded relentlessly by an inexplicable tornado filled with sharks,” the petition read.
The petition also included several “Sharknado” puns:
Four score and seven years ago, our nation rose together to overcome the greatest Sharknado known to man.
I have a dream that one day, children of all colors will live in fear of a third Sharknado.
We, the people, ask you to help us in our pursuit of life, liberty, and Sharknado.”
“Sharknado 3” is expected to air during summer 2015.
