Joe Biden’s promise of working toward national unity was apparently just an election ploy. His hand-picked attorney general has now ordered the FBI to aggressively pursue parents upset about the teaching of radical ideologies in their children’s classrooms.
In a memo dated Oct. 4, Garland directs “the Federal Bureau of Investigation, working with the United States Attorney, to convene meetings with federal, state, local, Tribal and territorial leaders in each federal judicial district within 30 days of the issuance of this memorandum.” When notified of this, Sen. Rand Paul called out Garland for his willful hypocrisy in protecting against threats and harassment.
“The punk who assaulted the policeman defending my wife and I in DC went free but the Biden Admin. labels concerned parents as ‘domestic terrorists?’” Paul tweeted.
On Fox News Primetime, Paul identified just a few of the inconsistencies that have occurred regarding political dissent over the past few years. Paul was able to draw from his own personal experiences to emphasize his point.
“Both my wife and I have been through a lot. Not only myself being shot at on the ballfield when Steve Scalise was nearly killed, being there when a mob of a hundred surrounded us, threatening to kill us, holding us, essentially as hostage until policemen came and broke us free. They were assaulting the policeman as they were trying to get us to the hotel,” Paul said. “One of the policemen [was] ultimately bloodied and had a laceration that required stitches above his eye. They arrested that one person, but that person was then released on his own recognizance the same night — assaulting a police officer, released the same night. To our knowledge, he’s still not been tried for this crime. I say good luck on finding him.”
“Criminalizing dissent is something that we should all be appalled with,” Paul said.
Paul then expanded on how the inconsistencies of the Justice Department have been weaponized. With plenty of examples to choose from regarding dissent that may have crossed into criminal territory, Paul mentioned how he was rebuked on his request to launch an investigation.
“We asked them to investigate the mob of 100 to see who paid for them to come to D.C., who was putting them up in thousand-dollar hotels. Not one thing was ever done by the Department of Justice, but now, moms at school boards are being told that their criminals, potential domestic terrorists for the crime of dissent.”
“I think the problem is it’s become so normalized to search out and seek out your opponents.”
Good for Paul for standing up on this cause. There definitely appears to be a two-tiered justice system for dissenting opinion when it comes to Democrats and Republicans. Democrats can riot, destroy, assault, and murder with little to any consequence when they dissent. Republicans get the wrath of the DOJ, thrown in jail or demonized and falsely called racists or white supremacists when they do.
Apparently, Democrats like to feel they have a monopoly on dissent, and anyone who dares challenge their ways have the wrath of the manipulated hand of the law unleashed upon them. It reeks of Stalinism.
More senators need to follow Paul’s lead on this. Nonviolent dissent should be welcomed, not persecuted by political hacks such as Garland.
