The Washington Examiner’s Sarah Westwood blasted President Joe Biden for not acting on rising gas prices in a Fox News appearance Wednesday.
Westwood previously reported that national gas prices nationally were at $4.24 last week and called out the Biden administration for falsely accusing gas and oil companies of price gouging.
“There’s a lot of pressure on Americans wallets right now,” Westwood said. “But I don’t think that you’ve yet seen the Biden administration shift to treat this like a top-five concern even though the numbers have shifted.”
OIL COMPANIES REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE IN GAS PRICE HEARING, ANGERING DEMOCRATS
“Biden is so boxed in by his liberal base and the very vocal climate activists in it that he can’t really pursue [any] of the options that would have a meaningful impact on gas prices right now,” she continued.
Meanwhile, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont are among the Democrats receiving backlash from climate activists in their pursuit of lowering gas prices. Newsom proposed state-funded debit cards of up to $400 for Californians to use toward gas. Lamont signed a suspension of his state’s gas tax, saving citizens 25 cents per gallon.
“There’s a recognition out there, outside of Washington, D.C., that this is a sort of red alert, five-alarm fire problem for Democrats heading into the midterm.”
