Ingraham: Trump’s GOP rivals should get over ‘bruised egos’

CLEVELAND Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham demanded Wednesday night that former Republican presidential candidates endorse Donald Trump, put aside bitterness, and get behind the party’s presidential nominee.

Giving a red-meat speech at the GOP convention, where Trump was formerly nominated, Ingraham said that those who competed against him in the primary need to rally in support of him immediately.

“I want to say this very plainly,” said Ingraham. “We should all, even all you boys with wounded feelings and bruised egos — and we love you — but you must honor your pledge to support Donald Trump now, tonight.”

Several of Trump’s former rivals have declined to support him, including Jeb Bush, John Kasich and Marco Rubio.

Early in the primary, however, each of the candidates signed a pledge from the Republican National Committee affirming that they would support whoever became the eventual nominee.

Ingraham’s speech was interrupted at one point to the audience chanting “Lock her up!” in reference to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, lauded Trump as a necessary change agent. She said he would “work tirelessly to get our country back on track.”
