A Gaithersburg woman died just after midnight Sunday when the vehicle she was driving was struck by another driver, Montgomery County police said.

Julie Rogers, 27, of the 20900 block of Sunny Acres Drive, was killed when her 2000 Toyota Celica was struck by a 2001 Ford Expedition driven by Nelson Castrellou, 33, of the 12800 block of Evan Sport Place in Woodbridge, Va., police said.

Police said Rogers’ vehicle was hit as she tried to turn from the off-ramp from the southbound lanes of Interstate 270 onto Quince Orchard Road. Castrellou was traveling west on Quince Orchard Road.

Drivers from both vehicles and two children in the Expedition were taken to a local hospital, where Rogers was pronounced dead. Police did not say how old the children are or give their condition or Castrellou’s on Monday.

Police did not say if alcohol or speed were factors in the wreck.

No charges have been filed, Officer Derek Baliles said. The crash remained under investigation Monday. Police have asked that any witnesses call 301-840-2435. [email protected]
