Trump claims Fox anchor ‘got it all wrong’ in Syria-Turkey coverage

President Trump accused Fox News anchor Brian Kilmeade of getting “it all wrong” in regard to his coverage of the recent developments in Syria after the withdrawal of U.S. troops.

Kilmeade, on Fox & Friends Monday morning, stated that the president “must realize he made a huge mistake” after reports surfaced that Turkish soldiers began attacking Kurdish forces following the Trump administration’s decision to leave northern Syria.

“It’s bipartisan outrage,” Kilmeade stated. “The president must realize he made a huge mistake, and just say, ‘Listen, I had a conversation with Erdoğan; he misled me like he’s misled everyone in the region.’” He went on to call it “worse than anyone could have imagined.”

The anchor has been critical of the administration’s decision on multiple occasions since the announcement was made slightly over a week ago.

Later on during the show, Trump responded to the host on social media.

“Brian Kilmeade over at @foxandfriends got it all wrong. We are not going into another war between people who have been fighting with each other for 200 years. Europe had a chance to get their ISIS prisoners, but didn’t want the cost. ‘Let the USA pay,’ they said,” he began.

He added, “Kurds may be releasing some to get us involved. Easily recaptured by Turkey or European Nations from where many came, but they should move quickly. Big sanctions on Turkey coming! Do people really think we should go to war with NATO Member Turkey? Never ending wars will end!”

The president, who has not been shy about vocalizing his criticism for the conservative-leaning network, slammed another network anchor the day before. On Sunday, he went after Chris Wallace and told him he’d “never be his father (and my friend),” adding that “the Phone Conversation I had with the President of Ukraine was a congenial & good one.”
