ANGLETON, Texas (AP) — A Southeast Texas father faces trial on allegations he killed a drunken driver in a fit of rage after his two sons were fatally struck on a rural road.
Opening statements are expected Tuesday in the murder trial of David Barajas (buh-RAH’-hus) in Angleton.
Authorities allege Barajas fatally shot Jose Banda after the December 2012 accident near Alvin, about 30 miles southeast of Houston. The accident claimed the lives of 12-year-old David Jr. and 11-year-old Caleb.
Defense attorney Sam Cammack says his client did not kill Banda.
No witnesses have named Barajas as the shooter. Authorities never recovered a weapon.
If convicted, Barajas faces up to life in prison.
