NFL quarterback-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick is now a father.
Kaeperinck and his girlfriend, Nessa Diab, announced the birth of their first child on social media on Sunday.

“Colin and I welcomed our amazing baby to the world a few weeks ago and we are over the moon with our growing family,” Diab wrote on Instagram.
Diab promised to share more details regarding the days since the baby’s arrival, but she said, “Colin is the most amazing dad and I’m soooo grateful that he is by our side for every moment of this journey.”
“My world has gotten that much bigger thanks to our sweet little baby who has shown me how to love in ways I never knew,” Diab added.

Kaepernick remains a free agent, having not played in the NFL since he began protesting during the national anthem in 2016.
The former quarterback worked out with the Las Vegas Raiders in May but has yet to appear on the team’s roster heading into the new season.
