Robber brought a note for teller and a bag to fill

The FBI is looking for a man who calmly robbed an Alexandria TD Bank last month.

The man entered the bank at 6615 Richmond Highway around 8:30 a.m. Nov. 17, approached a teller and passed a note demanding cash along with a light green plastic bag with unknown writing on it.

The teller complied, filled the plastic bag with cash and handed it back to the suspect. But, the suspect noticed the teller had left out a strapped stack of $20 bills and demanded that also.

The suspect then took the bag, left the bank and got into the driver’s side of a silver Dodge Caravan.

The suspect is described as black, about 5-foot-10 or 5-11. He weighs more than 200 pounds and has a muscular build.

He was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, black pants, black shoes, black sunglasses and a silver chain with a gold bordered pendant with a diamond.

Authorities say using a note to rob a bank is a common form of bank robbery. Tellers are trained to comply with a robber’s demands and it’s often with the help of surveillance technologies that suspects are eventually caught.

Anyone with information about the TD robbery or any other bank robbery in the area should contact the FBI Washington Field Office at 202-278-2000, or the Fairfax County Police Department at 703-691-2131.
