Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s supporters mercilessly attack “Lyin’ Ted” Cruz in a new ad that adopts the label made popular by Donald Trump.
The pro-Kasich New Day for America’s new ad is titled “Nose” and features a narrator discussing the senator’s “lies” while an image of Cruz’s nose grows like a cartoon Pinocchio.
“Many just call him ‘Lyin’ Ted,'” the narrator begins. “Lied about Ben Carson to steal a win in Iowa. Lies about being the best for the GOP when polls show he can’t even beat Hillary Clinton.”
The narrator slams Cruz for ‘lying’ about Kasich before claiming, “If Ted Cruz’s mouth is moving, he’s lying.”
The ad represents the latest salvo in Kasich supporters’ war on Cruz. As the Washington Examiner noted earlier this week, Kasich’s campaign and like-minded super PACs have recently begun attacking Cruz instead of Trump. Much of the Kasich team’s attacks have been lobbed in response to an ad from a pro-Cruz super PAC that pans “Kasich’s liberal record.”
Kasich has largely avoided attacking the senator, and describes himself as the “Prince of Light and Hope.” The governor, who has said he’s not sure it’s his “purpose” to become president, will campaign in Pennsylvania on Thursday.
