President Trump said Wednesday that United Nations representatives were laughing along with him, not at him, when he spoke to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday.
Trump said he used his speech to describe the success he’s had with the U.S. economy. He said people at the U.N. aren’t usually into “clapping, applauding, smiling,” but he said they did when he made his claim.
“I heard a little rustle as I said our country is now stronger than ever before, and it’s true,” he said. “And I heard a little rustle, and I said, ‘It’s true,’ and I heard smiles. And I said, ‘Oh, I didn’t know there’ be that.'”
“They weren’t laughing at me, they were laughing with me,” Trump said. “We had fun. That was not laughing at me.”

“The fake news said people laughed at President Trump. They didn’t laugh at me,” he added.
“People had a good time with me,” Trump said. “We were doing it together. We had a good time. They respect what I’ve done.”
