A group of firms planning for the influx of about 21,000 military jobs at Fort Belvoir will deliver some possible development scenarios on Thursday.
The presentation to the Base Realignment and Closure Board of Advisors will examine the use of the base’s land and infrastructure, though the future locations of specific military agencies will not be covered yet, said Marie Travesky, a spokeswoman for the Belvoir New Vision Planners.
The planners are tasked with ultimately developing a master plan for the base, which by 2011 will be home to a long list of organizations relocated under the 2005 BRAC recommendations.
“It’s an important step,” Fort Belvoir spokesman Donald N. Carr said of next week’s meeting. The presentation will be one the planners’ first “deliverables,” he said.
By the end of the month, the planners are slated to deliver a set of preliminary recommendations to the Army on further details of the relocation.
