New Hampshire Ave. lanes to reopen by rush hour

The D.C. Department of Transportation plans to reopen three lanes of New Hampshire Avenue between Eastern Avenue and North Capitol Street by rush hour Tuesday evening.

DDOT will open two lanes of the major commuter route for outbound traffic and possibly one lane for inbound traffic, said DDOT spokesman John Lyle.

“We are not anticipating a continuing impact of road closures,” Lyle said. “We are anticipating that the last remaining major road closure will be New Hampshire Avenue.”

Lyle said New Hampshire Avenue should resume normal operation in time for Wednesday morning¹s commuters, but he did not know what time that would be.

One lane of New Hampshire avenue was open for inbound traffic during the Tuesday morning rush.

Closures and major delays also have been reported on North Capitol Street, Nicholson Street, South Dakota Avenue, U.S. Route 29, Georgia Avenue, Wisconsin Avenue and River Road.
