Author George R.R. Martin has thrown his support behind former Vice President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.
The author of the A Song of Ice and Fire series that inspired HBO’s “Game of Thrones” said he’d likely vote for any Democrat to defeat President Trump, but Biden has his backing for two reasons.
“The main things I want in a nominee, however, are twofold: (1) someone who can beat Trump, and (2) someone who would actually be a good/ great president. Biden qualifies on both counts,” Martin wrote Saturday on his personal blog.
Martin said Biden’s speech kicking off his 2020 campaign was “kickass” and “so, so true.”
“I wish him well,” Martin wrote.
In his April 29 speech, Biden said he wants to rebuild “the backbone” of the U.S, which he said had lost its way under Trump’s leadership.
“We’re reminded again that we are in a battle for America’s soul, and we have to restore it,” Biden said.
