Rhee’s legislative agenda to be released next week

The former chancellor of D.C. Public Schools will release a legislative agenda for nationwide education reform next week, a spokesman told The Washington Examiner.

Michelle Rhee, the reform-minded schools chief who polarized the District, originally told The Examiner that she wanted to put out the agenda in December. “Some governors want to mention it in their state-of-state addresses or introduce it in their first legislative session,” she said.

But in an e-mail Tuesday afternoon, Rhee’s representative said, “We’re releasing the agenda the week of Jan. 3.” The Examiner has not learned the reason for the delay.

Rhee is publishing the platform through StudentsFirst, the nonprofit advocacy group she started on Dec. 6, after resigning from her D.C. post on Oct. 13. Rhee also is serving on Florida Governor-elect Rick Scott’s education transition team from afar.

She plans to move out of the District at the end of this school year, likely to her fiance’s home of Sacramento, Calif.
