The Blotter:

MS-13 members indicted for deadly violence Eleven members of the MS-13 street gang have been indicted on racketeering charges, for crimes in the D.C. area ranging from murder to attacks on rival gangs.

The 35-count indictment expands upon earlier charges against four of the defendants filed in 2010. It adds seven other defendants to the case, along with broader allegations of the gang’s criminal conduct.

Law enforcement officers arrested four gang members Wednesday as part of a coordinated national effort against street gangs. All of the defendants could face maximum terms of life in prison. One suspect, Hector Diaz-Flores, 20, was charged with the Dec. 12, 2008, murder of 14-year-old Giovanni Sanchez, whose body was found in a roadway near 14th and Newton streets NW in Washington. Diaz-Flores could be sentenced to death.

FBI involved in fatal crash

Prince George’s County police say an FBI agent appears to be at fault in a car wreck that killed a teenage male from Brandywine.

Police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson said alcohol and speeding appear to be factors, and charges are pending at the completion of the investigation, which could take several months. The case will be forward to the state’s attorney’s office, and the agent, who has not been publicly identified, could face vehicular manslaughter charges.

The two-vehicle accident happened shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday on the 10600 block of North Keys Road in Brandywine. Police identified the victim Wednesday as Lawrence Garner, of the 8700 block of Sheehan Drive.
