Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort to reopen partially from coronavirus shutdown

President Trump’s Florida resort is set to partially reopen this weekend after being closed for two months during the coronavirus outbreak.

An email sent Thursday to Mar-a-Lago members said the resort’s restaurant, pool, and hot tub will reopen Saturday, according to the Associated Press. The club’s main dining area and Trump’s private residence will stay closed.

Members were told to keep their distance from others and to bring their own towels.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has allowed businesses to slowly reopen. Restaurants in Palm Beach, Florida, are allowed to operate at 25% capacity for indoor seating.

Mar-a-Lago said last month it was temporarily laying off 153 of its employees because of the shutdown.

“You can’t have many hundreds of employees standing around doing nothing,” Trump said at the time. “There’s no customer. You’re not allowed to have a customer.”
