LL to Sarah Palin: That’s “Mr. Smith” to you

Not bitter or mad just provin’ I’m bad, Fox News

Rapper and actor LL Cool J wants you to know: He was not interviewed by Sarah Palin. Fox News had been promoting an upcoming Palin special, “Real American Stories,” touting interviews with the rapper and former GE CEO Jack Welch (but not together, obvs)

The NYDN notes that LL took to the Twitter (the prevailing celebrity communication method of choice) to lodge his objection:

“Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else  and  are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palin’s  show. WOW.”

Wow, indeed! Is there much overlap between the Palin and James Todd Smith constituencies? Does she even know who he is? Sarah Palin is a huuuuuuge Van Halen fan who may or may not have named her kid in tribute to the classic rockers. After LL objected, Fox responded:

“As it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.”

Whoa, now. That’s just not right! We love him on NCIS: Los Angeles! His acting career actually pre-dates Fox News and goes back to 1986, according to IMDB. For our money, we loved LL in “Deliver Us From Eva” and “Last Holiday.”
