Fairfax men live longer than any in nation

Men in Fairfax County have a longer life expectancy than men anywhere in the U.S., according to a new study by Seattle-based Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.

At 81.1, the hearty men of Fairfax live 4.5 years longer than the national median of 75.6 years old. Montgomery County men are almost as healthy, at 80.7. In Arlington, men live to be about 79.7, and in Alexandria, to about 78.3. Men in Prince George’s have a lower life expectation at 73.5, and men in D.C. live, on average, to 71.6 years.

Here’s the breakdown for women:

Montgomery: 84.5

Fairfax: 83.8

Alexandria: 83.6

Arlington: 83.3

Prince George’s: 79.2

Washington, D.C.: 78.5
