Jindal to endorse Perry

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will endorse Texas Gov. Rick Perry ahead of tonight’s debate, CNN reports.

According to CNN, “Jindal is on his way to Florida and will be Perry’s guest at Monday night’s ‘Tea Party Republican Debate’ broadcast on CNN from Tampa.”

The news comes on the same day that Tim Pawlenty endorsed former rival Mitt Romney and marks the highest profile name to get behind the Perry campaign thus far. It’s also likely to spark talk of a possible Perry-Jindal ticket.

A Jindal VP pick would add youth and diversity to the ticket, and bring somebody of unquestioned intellegence. Jindal would also have nearly five years of experience as governor by the time he’d have to be picked as a running mate. On the other hand, Louisiana is a neighboring state, and Perry, if he wins the nomination, may want to choose somebody who adds regional balance to the ticket.
