Khan questions Trump’s commitment to all Americans in new Clinton ad

A new Hillary Clinton ad hammers Donald Trump by featuring Gold Star father Khizr Khan, who says he wants to ask Trump whether his Muslim son, a U.S. Army captain who was killed in Iraq, would “have a place in your America.”

“In 2004, my son was stationed in Iraq. He saw a suicide bomber approaching his camp. My son moved forward to stop the bomber when the bomb exploded,” says Khan of his son, Army Capt. Humayun Khan, in the new 60-second spot.

“Only one American soldier died … He was 27 years old and he was a Muslim-American,” Khan said through tears. “I want to ask Mr. Trump, would my son have a place in your America?”

The ad comes 48 hours after the final presidential debate, during which Clinton reminded viewers how Trump criticized Khan and his wife, Ghazala, following the Khan’s speech at the Democratic convention in July.

“He went after Mr. and Mrs. Khan, the parents of a young man who died serving our country, a Gold Star family, because of their religion,” Clinton said of Trump during Wednesday’s debate. “He went after John McCain, a prisoner of war, said he prefers ‘people who aren’t captured.’ He went after a federal judge, born in Indiana, but who Donald said couldn’t be trusted to try the fraud and racketeering case against Trump University because his parents were Mexican.

“Every time Donald is pushed on something which is obviously uncomfortable, he immediately goes to denying responsibility,” she riffed. “He never apologizes or says he’s sorry for anything.”

The new ad is part of an existing ad buy in seven battleground states by the Democratic presidential hopeful’s campaign and will through Election Day.
