Paul Ryan calls Michelle Wolf’s correspondents’ dinner performance ‘extremely inappropriate’

House Speaker Paul Ryan called Michelle Wolf’s performance at Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner “extremely inappropriate.”

The Wisconsin Republican told The Weekly Standard‘s Steve Hayes that he said he didn’t hear Wolf’s roast of the Trump administration and White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, but learned about it from others.

“I heard from people I know and I can trust it was extremely inappropriate,” Ryan said.

Ryan said he never attends or watches the dinner program.

On Saturday, he was with his children and godson in Janesville, Wis., at the movie “Avengers: Infinity War.”

Wolf joked that Sanders “burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smokey eye,” among other things. The performance also targeted first daughter and White House adviser Ivanka Trump and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway.
