WHO: Syosset, N.Y. Central School District WHAT: School Superintendent Carole Hankin gets paid more than half a million dollars a year — about $300,000 more than the head of the much larger New York City school system, the New York Post reports. Hankin even got a raise this year. In all, 37 employees in the school district bring in over $100,000.
WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: State taxpayers kick in $10 million to this school district, and local taxpayers shoulder the bulk of the $188.8 million school budget through steep property taxes.
