Marvel actor Anthony Mackie has taken back what was interpreted by many as an endorsement of GOP candidate Donald Trump during an interview with BET.
Mackie, the actor who plays Falcon in Marvel’s latest “Avengers” seemed to be supporting Donald Trump in the 2016 race for the White House.
“I’m on the bandwagon,” Mackie told BET on Monday. “I’m drinking the Kool-Aid.”
Mackie, who also plays a political consultant in the upcoming movie “Our Brand is Crisis” said he would “100 percent” want to run Trump’s campaign.
“I mean, first that’ll be the best party ever when he won, and second, Trump’s an easy sell …” he said. “When you look at Trump, he’s an easy sell because you can sell him as the guy who worked his way up from nothing. And I think if you’re a ‘pull yourself up by your bootstraps’ candidate, people would identify with that.”

Mackie also said he believes “the best actors on the planet are politicians” in terms of how they have to conduct themselves, though he would never want to jump into the political ring himself.
“I don’t think I could hack it in politics because if you question me, or say something about my family, I’m coming after you,” he said. “So I would definitely lose every presidential race because I would be outside beating somebody up.”
Later in the day, Markie tweeted a statement that his previous remarks were a “bad attempt at a joke.”
Sorry Donald, that wasn’t an endorsement. Just a bad attempt at a joke, I guess?
