That phrase was one contestant’s wacky guess to an almost-completed puzzle on Wheel of Fortune. The game has been known to produce some unfortunate (and remarkable) TV moments, but this is the kind that especially sticks out.
For one, the guess didn’t make any darn sense — “Surf c(p)lay where we go” is definitely not a song lyric, which was the category. And two, he had the final word “come” already on the board. Somehow, he ended up with a guess that had “go” as the final word.
The big stage produces unfortunate moments like this sometimes. But excuses aside, all can appreciate the blunder.
