Jeb Bush funnels more dough to GOP elected officials

Jeb Bush chose the day Sen. Rand Paul announced his campaign for president to publicize his own second round of campaign donations to Republican elected officials.

The former two-term Florida governor, expected to enter the 2016 fray later this year, revealed Tuesday donations totaling $117,800 from his Right to Rise political action committee. The beneficiaries include at least one backer of Paul, the Kentucky Republican who scheduled the launch of his White House bid midday Wednesday. Right to Rise gave $5,400 to Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho, who has endorsed Paul’s presidential candidacy.

Bush’s PAC also delivered $5,400 each to a few Florida Republicans: Reps. Carlos Curbelo; Mario Diaz-Balart and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Diaz-Balart and Ros-Lehtinen are expected to back Bush should he formally announce for president.

“I’m proud to support conservative leaders who are dedicated to expanding economic opportunity for all and restoring America’s place in world,” Bush said in a statement. “The Right to Rise PAC will continue to aid candidates who want to restore the promise of America with a positive, conservative vision of reform and renewal.”
