For those who play Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Joe Biden yard signs can now be used to decorate islands.
Four new signs for the Democratic presidential nominee’s campaign were made available to players on Sept. 1. The designs can be accessed by scanning special QR codes through the Nintendo Switch Online app. They are free to download.
Christian Tom, the Biden campaign’s director of digital partnerships, said in a statement to the Washington Examiner, “Animal Crossing is a dynamic, diverse, and powerful platform that brings communities together from across the world. It is an exciting new opportunity for our campaign to engage and connect Biden-Harris supporters as they build and decorate their islands.”
He added, “This is just the start of how we plan to engage players ahead of November as we’re already looking forward to rolling out more digital swag, voter education tools, and organizing efforts on Animal Crossing and other platforms.”
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, campaigns have had to get creative with how they approach voter outreach. The Biden campaign’s announcement is just the latest in a series of less than typical tactics used in this election cycle.
