Democrats fundraising off of House ‘sit-in’ for more gun control

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is fundraising off of House Democrats’ protest for more gun restrictions.

Congressional Democrats staged a “sit-in” protest in support of gun control legislation on Wednesday and the DCCC seized on the publicity as a chance to raise big bucks. The DCCC is the House Democrats’ campaign arm.

“Their sit-in has lasted for 21 long hours — and still, there’s been NO vote on gun safety,” the DCCC email claims. “We need to defeat spineless Republicans.”

The email seeks 30,000 more donations before the “sit-in” protest ends at an unspecified time.

Last week, the DCCC told Morning Consult it raised nearly $2 million more in May than the National Republican Congressional Committee, the House Republicans’ campaign arm. Democrats’ fundraising advantage could portend success in the fall.
