And now, a word from ‘the real’ Joe the Plumber

Down the tubes

In this economy, most businesses would love to have the phone ringing off the hook. But not if your company is called “Joe the Plumber.” Since the early morning following the final presidential debate, Joe Francis and his company have been overwhelmed with calls. Francis, based in Amarillo, Texas, has run his “Joe the Plumber” business for 20 years. He told Yeas & Nays his email box hit 800 the weekend following the debate. Hundreds of media outlets and angry citizens call to complain, thinking he’s the “Joe” that John McCain made famous. “I’ve been getting a lot of dirty emails, but I send them dirty emails right back,” he said.

But all is not for naught. Business has picked up a bit, he says. Oh, and he also supports John McCain.
