Targeting Rubio, Trump to spend Super Tuesday in Fla.

Donald Trump will end would looks likely to be a triumphant Super Tuesday in rival Marco Rubio’s home state.

In a confrontational move apparently aimed at the highlighting the Republican front-runner’s strong odds of beating Rubio on his home turf, Trump’s campaign announced he will spent the night of Tuesday, March 1 night in Palm Beach, Fla., and hold an event. The campaign said details remain to be determined.

The scheduling is striking because Florida does not vote until March 15. That means Trump will not be in a states he is projected to win on Super Tuesday as results trickle in.

Trump lives part time in Palm Beach.

As Rubio racked up endorsements following the departure of Jeb Bush in the race, Trump has paid more attention to him, mocking him as a heavy sweat-prone “choke artist,” and a sellout to the Republican base on immigration.

Trump is currently projected to beat Rubio in his home state, 45 percent to 25 percent, in the most recent PPP poll.

A landslide loss for Rubio in his home state could kill the Rubio campaign. Florida is considered by many to be the last hope for those hoping to deny the Republican nomination to Trump.

Trump is currently first in the Washington Examiner‘s presidential power rankings. Rubio is third.
