White House Press Secretary Jay Carney refused to confirm or deny a new report that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wants to lead the World Bank after she leaves her current job.
“There’s been a lot of speculation in the press about this and other jobs, and I’m not going to confirm any of them,” Carney said during the press gaggle today, when asked if Clinton of White House economic advisor Larry Summers were under consideration for the World Bank job.
Carney even refused to say if Clinton or Summers had any “good qualities” that might make them effective leaders of the World Bank. “I really don’t have any information for you on potential successors at the World Bank.”
