Fox News host Sean Hannity turned the tables on New York’s top-ranking official Wednesday night when he unearthed comments Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo made in a radio interview two years ago, which support Sen. Ted Cruz’s blunt characterization of New York values.
Speaking about New York conservatives, Cuomo said, “Who are they, are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they are extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York.”
The January 2014 statement by Cuomo has resurfaced days after the governor called for the Tea Party-aligned candidate to apologize for bashing Donald Trump’s New York values in last Thursday’s Republican debate.
Cruz, ranked first in the Washington Examiner’s presidential power rankings, offered an apology, but it was one for how “big government liberals” have ran the Big Apple for decades, which further upset Democrats in the Empire State.
Cuomo’s office has not responded to the resurfaced interview.
