Biden niece arrested after driving under the influence in 2019

The niece of presidential candidate Joe Biden was arrested after driving under the influence in 2019.

Caroline Biden, 33, was arrested after she was found driving under the influence and without a license last August, according to the New York Post. The arrest, which occurred in Lower Merion, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, was not made public until Saturday. The case remains active.

The drunk driving arrest was her third run-in with law enforcement. Caroline Biden, the daughter of Joe Biden’s younger brother, James Biden Sr., was arrested for the first time in 2013, when she hit a New York police officer at her apartment following a dispute with her roommate over rent.

The case was later dismissed after she agreed to anger management treatment.

Four years later, she was caught using a stolen credit card, which she used to spend more than $100,000. A felony conviction was later tossed, and she was permitted to plead to a lesser charge as a part of a plea agreement.

Caroline Biden is not the only member of the former vice president’s family who has had run-ins with the law. Ashley and Hunter Biden, both of whom are the children of the presidential candidate, have drug-related arrests on their record. Joe Biden’s brother, Frank Biden, has also been arrested multiple times. The report on Saturday stressed that all of the Bidens received light sentences with no jail time.
