Who knew that t-shirts could be so complicated?
Duke University’s College Democrats are super pumped for Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, but while they may get the president they want come November, they won’t get the t-shirt they want.
The group spent some time brainstorming a “Duke Democrats for Obama” t-shirt and ultimately came up with a design that featured the Duke chapel within Obama’s well known “O” logo. (Above: The design)
Like all good college bureaucracies, the Dems had to get the blessing of the administration before moving forward…and they were denied.
“Terrible news everyone,” said an email circulated amongst the Dems. “Our proposed t-shirt design was rejected because of the use of the Duke Chapel. We are working to get another design approved. My apologies for getting everyone all excited about this design, its really disappointing.”
Turns out that the University is very protective of how the chapel is featured and this particular instance just didn’t pass the smell test.
So what are the Duke Dems gonna do? The smart money is on the Dems resorting to last year’s design, a t-shirt that reads, “Who’s ever heard of a hot piece of elephant?”
