First came the birthday cards, then came the desperate pleas for help, now comes “The Colbert Report.”
The Democrats’ latest fundraising gambit piggybacks on Stephen Colbert’s ride into the sunset, as his late-night parody of conservative TV talk comes to a close. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is promoting the latest of its greeting card series with a message for the Comedy Central star, asking people to sign it in thanks “for nine great years of the Colbert Report.”

“The Colbert Report’s” final broadcast is Thursday. He will begin duties as David Letterman’s replacement on CBS’s “The Late Show” at a date to be determined, though Letterman’s last show is officially May 20 next year.
